A 76-year-old Anne Arundel County resident stopped for gas at a Royal Farms in Pasadena and left — unknowingly — with a $50,000 winning 20X The Cash scratch-off.
The lucky woman, who plays instant tickets every now and then, gave into the urge to try her luck on a recent Sunday. She purchased two $5 scratch-off games, one for herself and one for her son, and headed home.
Once there, the Pasadena woman gave her son one instant ticket and she scratched the other, which happened to be the 20X The Cash game. Her son didn’t have much luck with his game, but the retired caretaker enjoyed a big surprise. One of her numbers matched one of the winning numbers and the prize was a whopping $50,000!
“I just couldn’t believe it,” said the mother and grandmother. When asked what she might do with her good fortune, she simply said she’ll “save for a rainy day.”
The retailer, Royal Farms #183, is also a winner. For selling a top-prize winning scratch-off, the store located at 8551 Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
The 20X The Cash scratch-off, which launched in January and is a member of a Multiplier Family of Games, still has two unclaimed $50,000 top prizes, along with six $5,000 prizes and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000. Other members of the Multiplier Family are 5X The Cash, 10X The Cash and 50X The Cash games.
