Father of one with another on the way socking away winnings to pay for their education
A few years back, a Baltimore man switched his game routine and began playing scratch-offs nearly every day. He started winning prizes in the range of $10 to $100 until his lucky day rolled around this month. The happy player scored a $100,000 top-prize win on a $100,000 Lucky instant ticket.
The 29-year-old father of one with another on the way started playing the Lottery by picking up Powerball and Mega Millions tickets on a regular basis. Not satisfied with those games’ odds for winning, he started playing scratch-offs at home while relaxing after work.
The $100,000 Lucky game was waiting for him at Brooklyn Park Sunoco. When he played the $30 scratch-off, he got a serious surprise! In the third spot on the first row of the game’s play area, he matched the number 52 to win the $100,000 prize. Excited, he called his brother and shared his news.
“He said, ‘You’re lying.’ I said, ‘No, it’s true!’” the winner reported on April 26 while claiming his prize. He wound up scanning the scratch-off using the Maryland Lottery app on his phone to prove to his brother the big win was indeed real.
Still a little overwhelmed, the happy dad said he hadn’t given a whole lot of thought yet to his plans for the prize. He probably will save most of the funds to pay for his children’s education.
Also sharing in the wealth is his lucky Lottery retailer located at 5731 Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park. The Anne Arundel County business picks up a bonus of $1,000 from the Lottery, equal to 1% of the prize.
