Dorchester County man claims $100,000 top prize on In the Money instant ticket
An Eastern Shore resident was planning his 20-year wedding anniversary getaway when Lady Luck stepped in to give his budget a big boost. He just won $100,000 on the In the Money scratch-off.
The 48-year-old found his lucky instant ticket at Shop Stop Express Market, which is his regular place to buy Lottery games in Hurlock. He particularly enjoys playing new scratch-offs and looks for the top-prize payouts to make his choices It wasn’t before long before the In the Money instant ticket caught his eye. He had such a good feeling about the $10 game that he purchased five of them.
The first four instant tickets were non-winners while the fifth scratch-off carried the $100,000 top prize. “I scanned the QR code and then all I saw were zeros and commas,” the lucky player said. “I then took a step back, looked around, tucked my ticket away and got out of there.” The winner has only shared the news of his big win with his wife of 19 years and a close friend.
The Dorchester County man has worked in security system installations for 21 years. He enjoys hunting, fishing and watching his son’s baseball games. After budgeting for his 20-year anniversary getaway, the winner plans to use the remainder of his prize to pay bills and make home renovations.
Shop Stop Express Market located at 101 Broad Street in Dorchester County also benefits from selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off. The Hurlock business will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.
The In the Money game went on sale in February with eight $100,000 top prizes; two remain along with seven $20,000 prizes and 19 $10,000 prizes.
