Western Maryland player finds luck with Money Rush instant ticket
Hagerstown’s William Potts Jr. and his wife Kelly like to play Lottery scratch-offs as a way to unwind after long a day at work. The $10 Money Rush instant ticket, in particular, has held the Western Maryland couple’s attention for a while. After winning small prizes on the instant ticket in the past, they decided to try their luck with it again and won an exhilarating $100,000 top prize.
The 55-year-old husband bought his lucky ticket on Nov. 3 at Martin’s #6444 located at 18726 North Pointe Drive in Hagerstown. There initially was no rush to scratch off the game on William’s part because he had scanned the instant ticket the same day and thought that it was a $100 winner. A few days later, however, he was reminded to check his $10 instant ticket again. A second look revealed several zeros that had evaded his eyes the first time.
“I was in shock for hours,” William recalled. The lucky Washington County resident shared the great news with his wife, who was equally as excited, and with his son, who didn’t believe him until he saw photos of the lucky scratch-off.
William works as a delivery driver. When asked of his plans for his prize, William said some funds may go toward home improvements and the rest will go toward his retirement fund.
His lucky Lottery retailer, Martin’s #6444, will receive a $1,000 bonus for its role in selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off. The Money Rush ticket went on sale in July beginning with eight top prizes. There are still two remaining along with two $50,000 prizes and three $10,000 prizes.
