Central Maryland resident claims prize on March 16 quick-pick ticket
A Howard County retiree was quite happy thinking he had just won a $50,000 Multi-Match prize and scheduled an appointment to claim his winnings at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. He had no idea that his prize was more than 10 times what he thought! The retiree arrived at headquarters and was absolutely stunned to learn he won a $680,000 jackpot prize in the March 16 drawing.
The 75-year-old bought his lucky $4 ticket at Royal Farms #054 located at 8268 Lark Brown Drive in Elkridge. He likes to take his Mega Millions and Powerball tickets to that retailer to scan for prizes and, if he has any, will put the money toward the purchase of another Lottery game. The married father of two spent $4 that day on a Multi-Match quick-pick ticket. The drawing came and went and our winner checked his ticket for a win.
“I thought it was only $50,000 the first time I looked,” the lucky winner said. It wasn’t until he arrived at Lottery headquarters that he learned about his Lottery luck. Afterward, he texted his wife to share the great news.
The Central Maryland resident is a retired subcontractor for the government. He plans to use his winnings to pay off debts, pay his daughter’s college tuition and give a financial gift to his son.
Royal Farms #054 is also in luck. The Howard County Lottery retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling a jackpot-winning Multi-Match ticket.
