Players across the state won more than $34.9 million during week ending Oct. 8
FAST PLAY generated the Maryland Lottery’s two biggest prizes during the week of Oct. 2-8 with Powerball rolling into third place with a $150,000 third-tier winning ticket. Meanwhile, the Powerball jackpot continued to roll and now has an estimated jackpot annuity of $1.73 billion for the Wednesday, Oct. 11 drawing. The estimated cash option is $756.6 million.
Our top winner of the week was a player who bought a $953,280 winning FAST PLAY Extreme Green ticket on Oct. 6 in Woodlawn. That ticket is still unclaimed as of Oct. 10. And on Oct. 5, “Ima Snowbird” from Reisterstown bought a $205,147 FAST PLAY Casino Royale Slots ticket in Hampstead. The prize was claimed Oct. 6.
The Saturday, Oct. 7 Powerball drawing created a big Maryland winner, too. A $150,000 winning Powerball ticket was sold in Bowie. The lucky player added Power Play to the ticket and tripled the $50,000 prize.
Maryland saw sales of nine winning Powerball tickets valued at $50,000 to $150,000 last week. The last time a player matched all six of the Powerball numbers was on July 19 on a ticket sold in Los Angeles, Calif. That prize was $1.08 billion. The jackpot for the Oct. 11 drawing is the second-largest in both Powerball and U.S. lottery history.
In all, 47 Maryland Lottery tickets worth $10,000 or more were sold or redeemed in the seven days ending Oct. 8. The Lottery paid more than $34.9 million in prizes during that period.
Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem their tickets at the Maryland Lottery Claims Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes of up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations. All Maryland Lottery retailers are authorized to redeem tickets up to and including $600. More information is available on the How To Claim page of mdlottery.com.
