$500,000-Winning Powerball Double Play Ticket Sold in Catonsville

Powerball Jackpot Reaches $1 Billion; Tonight’s Mega Millions Jackpot at $640 Million

Powerball continues to roll along and is now at the billion-dollar mark as there were no top-prize winners from Monday’s drawing, but there was a big winner in Maryland.

A $500,000 winning Double Play ticket was sold at Westway Liquors located at 5312 Edmondson Avenue in Catonsville. The Maryland Lottery is looking for the big winner who bought the second-tier winning ticket at the Baltimore County retailer. The winning Double Play numbers in the July 17 drawing were 9, 37, 38, 62 and 69; the Powerball was 23.

Double Play is a second drawing that takes place about 30 minutes after the Powerball drawing. Players can add Double Play to their tickets for an additional $1. Adding the Double Play option will allow players to receive one set of numbers for both the regular draw and the Double Play draw. Double Play has a top prize of $10 million.

The next Powerball drawing is set for Wednesday with a jackpot at an estimated annuity of $1 billion with an estimated cash value of $516.8 million. That’s the third-largest jackpot in the game’s history.

Tonight, Mega Millions takes center stage. That jackpot also is on a roll with an estimated annuity of $640 million with an estimated cash value of $328 million.

Lottery officials encourage all winners to sign the back of their tickets immediately and put them in a safe location. They get 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.

Instructions on claiming prizes in person or by mail are available HERE. Players must redeem prizes larger than $25,000 by mail or at Lottery headquarters in the Montgomery Park Business Center, 1800 Washington Blvd., Suite 330 in Baltimore. The Lottery’s Claims Center in Baltimore is open by appointment only (no walk-ins). Click HERE to schedule an appointment.

Maryland is home to three Powerball jackpot wins: $731.1 million in January 2021 (Lonaconing, Allegany County); $128.8 million in December 2011 (Elkton, Cecil County) and $108.8 million in September 2011 (Abingdon, Harford County).
