Beginner’s Luck Favors ‘Mrs. Taz’ with $50,000 Scratch-off Win

First-time five-figure win is on $1 Million Royale instant ticket

A 51-year-old Glen Burnie woman is in awe after winning a $50,000 scratch-off prize. The lucky lady credits beginner’s luck for her success playing the $1 Million Royale scratch-off game.

The Anne Arundel County resident, who chose to remain anonymous, picked the nickname “Mrs. Taz” to tell the story of her encounter with Lottery luck. Her favorite Looney Tunes cartoon character is the Tasmanian Devil, she explained.

“Mrs. Taz” was out and about, running errands when she stopped at the Mobil gas station located at 7200 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. While in line, she noticed two “marble-looking scratch-offs” called the $1 Million Royale. The player purchased one of the $20 games for herself and one for her husband because they had caught her eye.

The government contractor took the instant tickets home and she and her husband played the games together. His instant ticket was a non-winner but her scratch-off revealed a big surprise. “Mrs. Taz” was initially unsure of the prize amount so she asked her husband to look at the scratch-off. He shouted, “Baby we won! I think we won $50,000!”

In disbelief, “Mrs. Taz” scanned her scratch-off a few times to confirm her win. The couple came to Lottery headquarters together to claim her prize. The lucky woman said she plans to pay bills with her winnings and help her son with his college tuition bill.

The $1 Million Royale scratch-off went on sale in July and is still packed with prizes. There are six $1 million top prizes remaining, as well as five $50,000 prizes, 73 $10,000 prizes and many others ranging from $20 to $5,000.
