Winner prefers to play out-of-state games
A Delaware resident who prefers to play lottery games out of state recently hit for his biggest score to date: $50,000 on the Maryland Lottery’s Ca$h Multiplier scratch-off.
The player, who resides in Bear, Del., said he likes that the prizes on instant tickets in Maryland and Pennsylvania are consistently bigger than those available on Delaware tickets.
“I’m big into Pennsylvania and Maryland,” he said on July 10 while claiming his prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
During his years of playing, the New Castle County resident has won a few $5,000 prizes, several at the $1,000 level and “a bunch of $500s,” he said. The $50,000 score was head and shoulders above the others, the winner added.
The lucky 60-year-old plans to use his $50,000 top-prize win to buy a new car, although he’s made no decision about make or model. Asked if he plans to keep on playing, he said: “I’m sure I will!”
He bought the $5 instant ticket at Food Lion #1558 at 1001 East Pulaski Highway in Elkton. The Cecil County store receives a bonus of $500, equal to 1% of the prize, from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off.
The Ca$h Multiplier game went on sale in June with eight top prizes; seven are unclaimed.
