Lucky Number Seven Pays Off with $50,000 Prize for Salisbury Pair

Scratch-off pals find top-prize win playing Hot 7s Tripler game

After spotting a scratch-off game that had her lucky number of 7 in the name, a Salisbury woman and her friend decided to take a chance on six of the $5 Hot 7s Tripler instant tickets.

They were at Country Farm in Salisbury and scratched the tickets off in the store. “We couldn’t believe it,” said the 51-year-old winner, recalling that she thought to herself, “Probably I am blind and I’m wrong!”

She was neither! The scratch-off pair verified the top-prize win and then both quietly went their separate ways to work. They claimed the prize together this week at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

The lucky lady works in a tax services office and her friend works in agriculture. The happy pair are splitting the prize. She plans to do something fun with her daughter and grandchild with her share of the fortune while her friend plans to invest his windfall.

The Lottery retailer, which is located at 821 Priscilla Street in Salisbury, benefits from their lucky purchase. The store will earn a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.

The Hot 7s Tripler game is still packed with prizes. Players can search for three more $50,000 top prizes, six $5,000 prizes and others ranging from $5 to $1,000. The Hot 7s Tripler scratch-off went on sale in May along with a family of four other scratch-off games: $1 Hot 7s, $2 Hot 7s Doubler, $3 Red Hot Cash and $10 Hot 7s Multiplier. A $20 Hot 777 game went on sale in April.
